The USC Ronald Tutor Campus Center Plaza (TCC) had once been the heartbeat of the 194,000 square foot facility, attracting students and faculty to mingle, collaborate, lounge and relax in an atmosphere that echoed European plazas. Unfortunately, the low quality outdoor furniture previously in the space had deteriorated under heavy traffic and the space was no longer inviting or comfortable. USC selected Pacific Office Interiors to reinvigorate the space with premium furniture for high traffic outdoor spaces.
Design Collaboration in a Turnkey Solution
Pacific Office Interiors worked closely with TCC and furniture maker JANUS et Cie to address the key need of providing premium grade outdoor furniture; engineered and designed to provide decades of use in high-traffic areas. The furnishings’ style was equally important as the TCC staff wanted to restore the appeal and utilization of the Plaza.
The design concept refined the spaces for dining, lounging, relaxing and outdoor collaboration for students, faculty and alumni. Pacific Office Interiors selected JANUS et Cie furniture from the more than 250 manufacturers we work with because they are the recognized provider of the premium furniture for high traffic outdoor spaces. The Plaza was furnished with the JANUS et Cie Tate cafe dining tables and chairs. Duo and Tate cocktail tables paired with Tate barstools offer users a different setting option. Finally, the Matisse modular lounge chairs allow Plaza guests to create ad hoc seating groups to suit their preferences. Shading the seating areas are Titan’s umbrellas in USC Crimson.
